What if I Want to Help But I am not Ready to Foster?
The idea of foster parenting is so big that it is easy to be afraid you are not ready. We appreciate your commitment! You can still help. Foster parents really need a break. The State of Missouri agrees that foster parenting is hard and that foster parents deserve some paid time off. That is where you come in. If you meet the criteria mentioned on the qualification page but are not ready to take on a child full time yet, you can offer to take children for foster parents on a temporary basis for their time off. This is called “Respite Service.” Think of it as a very well vetted babysitter. The process is similar to that of foster care. You still have a safety walk through of your home but you do not have to do a full home study. Contact us to set up a walk through and start the process for offering respite services to foster parents today!
