Have you ever heard the story of the Good Samaritan?

A man is lying injured on a road, unable to move. Several travelers pass him by, avoiding him. However, a Good Samaritan sees the injured man and takes him to an inn, where the innkeeper helps him heal.

This is a story that means a lot to us here at Good Samaritan (the Good Samaritan is our namesake after all). It is a story about the kindness and selflessness of a stranger giving a hand to someone in need. The Good Samaritan could have walked past the injured man like others before him had done. However, they chose to not ignore the pain that the stranger was in and instead chose to reach out and provide support.

Here at Good Samaritan, we like to consider ourselves the ‘innkeeper’ in our own story. Through our programs, youth and families heal from trauma and build resiliency. We provide a safe place for healing and growth to happen. However, this is just part of the story. What we do would not happen without Good Samaritans who stop, see a need, and act on it.

For us, each person who supports the work we do embodies the Good Samaritan.

Our staff are Good Samaritans.

They work tirelessly to ensure that our programs are effective and impactful, and that each youth and family who comes to us receives the care and support they need to succeed. Their kindness and compassion are evident in everything they do.

Our donors are Good Samaritans.

Without their generosity, we would not be able to continue offering our services to those who need them most. Their kindness and willingness to give back inspire us to keep doing the work we do, and to strive to make a positive difference in the world.

Our volunteers and community partners are Good Samaritans.

They link arms with us to fill gaps that we would not be able to fill alone. They choose to give their time and resources to a cause that they believe in.

Our youth and families are Good Samaritans.

Despite the challenges they face, they show incredible kindness, generosity, and resilience every day. They support one another and create strong community bonds. We are honored to be a part of their journey.

In the story of the Good Samaritan, it is this small act of kindness from a stranger that changes the injured man’s life.

At Good Samaritan Boys Ranch, we take that lesson to heart. Our ability to provide services and support to our youth and families is possible because of small acts of kindness and selflessness from everyday people. And we cannot thank our Good Samaritans enough!
